Hopefully a New Beginning?

In Weird on 04/30/2010 at 11:58 am

Obviously, I have been getting bored with this damn thing. Too much of me saying ‘OMG LUK MARK WAHLBERG GOT FAT,’ and not enough diversity in different subjects. So what I am looking for is a group of people that would be interested in contributing to Confused Expression to simply mix it up a bit. What I love about the internet is watching videos and finding random shit I think people haven’t seen to showcase here, however, in the rural lands of upstate New York it’s close to impossible (took me four hours to load a four-minute youtube video).

Book Army

My BIGGEST pet peeve is reading an awful book. I can withstand an awful day, movie, etc., but I cannot deal with a bad book. A lot of it I think has to do with the fact that in order to find out what the whole story is you’ve got to commit to reading the whole god damn thing (which, lets be honest, probably takes me a week or so to do). This, sadly, limits the amount of books I read annually, BUT recently I have discovered Book Army, which is a site that gives you recommendations based on previous books you’ve enjoyed, sort of like what Netflix’s does. A site definitely worth checking out!

Philip Treacy

In fashion on 04/25/2010 at 10:43 am

Sorry it has been taking me so long to post, I’ve just been re-adjusting to having dialup internet… ugh.

Anyways, Philip Treacy is one of the world’s most famous hat designers, designing for American fashion icons Sarah Jessica Parker (ew, but she is a fashion icon), Lady Gaga, and etc. I really enjoy his campy-couture aesthetic as there probably isn’t an random meaningless object he hasn’t somehow sewed onto a hat.

Hats are one of the more unpopular aspects of fashion that I wish would pick up in mainstream fashion (hair too, when did people forget about decorating their heads?!).

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad!

So I am still at Disney World, where I am not particularly having the greatest time (we’ll get back to the another day). We don’t have free wireless internet, but I figured the $10 was well worth it to post about my most favorite holiday, 420. Today is probably the first time I’ve ever wanted to be friends with the ghetto kids wearing wife beaters, backwards caps, and baggy jean shorts as they are probably the only people here celebrating today while walking down the walking trail passing a blunt between one another… ugh jealous.

AOL posted a great article today on Facebook (click here for their fan page and click here for their article) about Americans (and people around the world) breaking the law and lighting up together. One individual reported “It’s the day when marijuana smokers come out of the closet.” In Sacramento, California the El Camino Wellness Center sold discounted marijuana for $4.20 an 8th as opposed to the average $60.

I wish I could say I am celebrating this holiday with the rest of my fellow 420-ers, but instead I got drunk at the pool. HAPPY 420 EVERYONE!

I’m off to Disney for a week!

(Me and my sister c. 1994)

So some dumb hoe said this in a documentary for Disney World-

“Disney World is like… a right of passage for Americans… and if they don’t… like… come here… they’re almost NOT American,” well… this is my 6th time, but I don’t necessarily agree with that. I’ll be there from the 17th to the 23rd meanwhile my friend Nina Swistel will be posting all the random shit she finds interesting, which will hopefully provide an interesting twist to this blog.

RIP Titanic

In Film on 04/16/2010 at 12:50 pm

well, I am a disrespectful idiot, HOW COULD I FORGET THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC? If you know me, you know I am a Titanic OBSESSED FREAK, so I’m sorry Titanic, please accept my apology.

In two years James Cameron will be re-releasing 1997’s smash hit, Titanic, to the public as it’s been completely digitally remastered (even though it was only made 12 years ago) and will be shown in IMAX 3D (probably to make Cameron another few billion). As you probably know… I hate 3D… but Titanic in 3D? I’m all over that shit. Titanic came out when I was in 3rd grade, I was almost nine when I first saw it… I dragged my family to see the film FOUR TIMES and every time was better than the last. I had become a Titanic fanatic two years before the film had come out (I know, I’m a trendsetter, even at seven), my obsession sprouted from when my I learned that my Great Great Grandmother almost boarded the Lusitania back in 1915 (the Titanic’s lame sister ship), which sank when a German torpedo hit the side of the ship, which led to my learning of the Titanic and ever since then I have purchased the majority of films, board games, and books about the Titanic (and the board game is amazing, btw, ask my friend Cathy).

“We thought the world was ending!”

In Weird on 04/15/2010 at 2:00 pm

Watch this Youtube clip! People in Iowa thought the world was ending when this meteor shower began, which resulted in a flood of 911 calls.
