Blackglama 2.0

In art on 08/11/2011 at 2:13 pm

I was just check the statistics on my blog and saw that I had the highest amount of activity a few days ago on a post I did on Blackglama (I’m assuming that maybe it has something to do with the 1960’s obsession American’s are now having, myself included). BonjourLapin showed me a great podcast from The Age of Persuasion on Luxury Advertising, definitely worth giving a listen to! (click here)

I don’t believe I…

In Matt Denison, Photographers, Photography on 08/11/2011 at 4:53 am

At the end of the school year at Pratt I had churned out many series of photographs (a few films, but nothing I’m very proud of, but that’s not going to stop me from posting a link to my Vimeo).

Here’s one that I did, the assignment was to create a narrative using 4-5 prints, which I called ‘The Last Supper”

Revamp the blog?

In Uncategorized on 07/30/2011 at 12:52 pm

It’s been almost 8 months since I’ve last written. I, A. finally have internet in the apartment I’m subleting this summer (for the next few days) and B. don’t have as much time, obviously, as I use to when I was taking a semester off from school living in Upstate New York.

This summer has been incredible though… I got to go to San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Anaheim. I worked at a place called ‘Patsy’s Pizzeria,’ on W. 23rd btwn 8 & 9. I have a great new apartment with my friend Cathy in Clinton Hill (we’re both looking to get a Persian kitty, wantz!). I also was featured in Seventeen magazine online with my friend Sam, thanks to his internship at Swagger NYC.

But as this semester at Pratt gets dauntingly closer… I’m hoping to reorganize my life so that I have more time for you, me, and better planned time for doing school work (staying up three nights a week is no longer acceptable).

America: We Bleed Oil Pt. I

In Film on 01/16/2011 at 6:30 pm

My film I made w/ my friend at Pratt, which includes some really rare footage of Marilyn Monroe! Click here to watch!

A five minute film exemplifying the pressures, demands, and ideals American society unrealistically holds for it’s citizens. Lady Columbia (i.e. Miss America) traditionally represents the feminine personification of America, who is typically represented in early 20th century war posters pleading for American men to fight for their country. This film describes the brutal truths of the contemporary Lady Columbia, Miss America.

My hot Grandparents

In Photography on 01/13/2011 at 12:23 am

My hot Grandparents is a Tumblr I found (click here) where people can upload vintage photographs of their Grandparents studding their stuff. I like the idea of ‘resparking’ their image on the digital world (ha), a vice for vanity our dear Grandparents didn’t get to experience. Upload some pictures of you hot Grandparent! I can’t get enough of vintage home photographs!
