Blackglama 2.0

In art on 08/11/2011 at 2:13 pm

I was just check the statistics on my blog and saw that I had the highest amount of activity a few days ago on a post I did on Blackglama (I’m assuming that maybe it has something to do with the 1960’s obsession American’s are now having, myself included). BonjourLapin showed me a great podcast from The Age of Persuasion on Luxury Advertising, definitely worth giving a listen to! (click here)

My video teacher at Pratt showed us this film, they made it for about $25,000, it’s so awesome!

The aesthetics and music are what I find to be the most striking, it’s visually stunning.

Need to do more blogging…

In art on 10/10/2010 at 11:07 pm

Summer and school, as I predicted,  ended my habitual blogging, but I’d like to try and pick it up again, maybe start writing a little more personally about projects, things I’m doing at school, work that inspires me, and blah blah.

Currently I have a few projects I’m working on, I’m in the process of putting together a subway shoot, not sure what I am going to do for costumes yet, because Bennington had a sick costume dept., but New York is most definitely filled w/ some great thrift stores that I’ll just have to pour through one day. I just recently met w/ my Art History professor and discussed one of my ideas for a photo shoot where I’d be referencing iconic sculptors and paintings then modernize them to depict America’s current social infrastructure. I’m going to include pieces like Lady Justice, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial statue, American Gothic, and etc. I’m a little pissed at Pratt because I can’t check out lights, medium format cameras, or use the lighting studio because I’m in a ‘foundations,’ course… so I’ll have to try and figure out a way around the system.

I have recently been looking more at Steven Klein’s work, which is mostly all available on his website, An interesting piece I found is called Medical Mistakes, a piece he made for American Vogue

In Lady Gaga on 05/19/2010 at 5:34 pm

Lady Gaga released a still from her latest unreleased music video, Alejandro. I’m assuming Alejandro will be released sometime in June, which is not to be the sequel for March’s hit, Telephone. Alejandro has been directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein who’s work has been  featured famously in Vogue, W Magazine, and Vanity Fair.

“She can be seen lying on top of one young man while the others – all sporting black bowl cuts – crouch around and on top of her.

Famous fashion photographer Steven Klein is directing the video for her new song, which Gaga has denied will be a sequel to her hit promo for the track Telephone featuring Beyonce.

Lady Gaga declared it would be “a beautiful video” but added that “like all my videos, I really don’t know what it will look like until it’s finished.”

“[Steven] is a great friend of mine, and I love him so much and have so much respect for him,” she said.

“We’ve been so excited to collaborate…and tell a story of my music through his lens.”

Alejandro is taken from the album The Fame Monster.”

I’ve set up a Facebook page for my blog, mainly out of boredom-ness, but also so you can receive updates there instead of from Twitter… because I fucking find Twitter to be one of the most useless websites out there.

Click here to “Like” Confused Expression on Facebook! (What the fuck happened to ‘Become a fan!?’)

Hopefully a New Beginning?

Obviously, I have been getting bored with this damn thing. Too much of me saying ‘OMG LUK MARK WAHLBERG GOT FAT,’ and not enough diversity in different subjects. So what I am looking for is a group of people that would be interested in contributing to Confused Expression to simply mix it up a bit. What I love about the internet is watching videos and finding random shit I think people haven’t seen to showcase here, however, in the rural lands of upstate New York it’s close to impossible (took me four hours to load a four-minute youtube video).
