I’m off to Disney for a week!

In Weird on 04/16/2010 at 7:57 pm

(Me and my sister c. 1994)

So some dumb hoe said this in a documentary for Disney World-

“Disney World is like… a right of passage for Americans… and if they don’t… like… come here… they’re almost NOT American,” well… this is my 6th time, but I don’t necessarily agree with that. I’ll be there from the 17th to the 23rd meanwhile my friend Nina Swistel will be posting all the random shit she finds interesting, which will hopefully provide an interesting twist to this blog.

Tim Burton heartz remakes

In Film on 04/12/2010 at 9:46 pm

Where creativity doesn’t exist right now… is in Hollywood. Remakes are at their height as digital technology is lending itself to newer possibilities that ‘enhance’ their re-story telling quality. As everyone knows Disney has acquired filmmaker Tim Burton to remake their classic Alice in Wonderland, which I absolutely hated (it was a stupid 3D cash cow), but recently he’s been hired to remake another classic… Sleeping Beauty. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney movie… to see this animated film cheaply re-made as to simply drag in $100 million or so in for Disney would be an absolute shame and a slap in the face for the classic. However, what is interesting is that it’s going to be more focused on the life and evil doings of Maleficent, not the pure and beautiful Princess Aurora.

I appreciate what Tim Burton is doing, but I don’t really care for his films, he’s aesthetic is almost a character of it’s own that absorbs the spotlight from any actor or actress starring in his film, as it’s mostly what I pay attention to throughout the film. So far, all I know is that Angelina Jolie is supposed to star as the evil Maleficent, which could possibly be good, but I’m not going to hold my breath. And how much do you want to bet that Johnny Depp will be playing Princess Aurora?

Evil, thy name is Anne

In Anne Hathaway, D-List, Film on 03/17/2010 at 9:04 pm

The last $8.50 I wasted at the movie theater (Alice in Wonderland) featured my least favorite Disney star, Anne Hathaway. This clown faced hoe has ruined almost every possible movie she’s been in, destroying any likelihood that I would be able to enjoy her co-stars or the film in general. Why Ang Lee decided to cast Hathaway in Brokeback Mountain I will never understand (though… I will admit it was one of her better performances). I have a feeling my great dislike for Anne Hathaway sprouts from her stupidity in The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries pt. 2 WHY WOULD YOU RATHER STAY POOR IN SAN FRAN THAN BE THE QUEEN OF AUSTRIA SOMEDAY???????????????? Also, why on earth would you NOT want to live with Julie Andrews? Uh… she would be the BEST Grandmother. She sings, she dances, she’s even got an Oscar (well, I guess she didn’t in the movie, maybe that was the catch).

Also, a message to Vogue. If you EVER put her on the cover again, I will never purchase your magazine. Last winter she was featured on the cover of their January issue, which contain interesting articles but I wouldn’t buy it because her massive face covered the entire cover of the damn magazine!

And people… brace yourselves, as this talentless actress continues to strut her stuff as The Princess Diaries pt. 3 will be released in 2013… I’m really hoping 2012 takes care of the ending of humanity before this picture is ever released to the public.

….Evil, thy name is Anne.

One big… WTF?

In Film, Sandra Bullock on 03/12/2010 at 1:46 am

If you were like me on Sunday night, you were thinking WTF? when Sandra Bullock won best actress… BEST actress? I mean… yeah, she’s an ‘actress,’ but BEST the actress of 2009? I guess I can’t really knock her until I’ve seen the movie… but considering the kinds of movies she plays in normally… romantic comedies… chick flicks… I guess the people picking this year were lame single women and lame single gays (I can say that, I’m gay). If we keep going at this rate of choosing the talentless over the talented (Meryl Streep, lovez hur) Miley Cyrus, Hillary Duff, and other Disney twinks will be lining up for their golden Oscars in the years to come.

Alice in Wonderland

In Film on 03/11/2010 at 5:29 am

So, I saw Alice in Wonderland… another example of the most recent cinematic wave “3-D.” I find 3-D annoying, it’s basically a ride, a quarter billion dollar ride that is dispersed across the country and the world. Though I thought many of the scenes in Alice in Wonderland were important to it’s story… I couldn’t help but find that there were a handful of unnecessary scenes placed amongst the film to show of the most recent advancements in 3-D and digital manipulation technology.  I’m not surprised that more and more films are coming out in 3-D as film has always moved towards being more and more realistic and representative of a functional space. Film has come a long way from silent black and white pictures where it was continuously being advanced upon, sound, color, digital manipulation, and now 3-D. But anyways, Tim Burton’s latest film is worth seeing as he did express his own unique flavor to the story, but overall, the 3-D is unnecessary, it’s really just a bunch of extra fat.
