Hatez this, Lovez that

One of my more favorite websites to check out once in a while is, providing the latest information on technological and social advancements on Facebook. One unfortunate group the site brought to my attention was that there is a growing number of members in the Facebook community calling for the death of President Obama. MORE THAN A MILLION. I refuse to put the link to the page on my blog, obviously, because I don’t want to provide them with any attention. However, there is a group growing close to a million saying that the group should be deleted (click here to join). Facebook strongly supports freedom of speech, but I think it’s a little whack when someone’s calling for the death of a living person… let alone our President.

Fucking hatez it.

FINALLY the tabloids and shitty gossip websites have presented the internet with production photos of HBO’s soon-to-be 5 hour mini-series of Mildred Pierce. One thing that greatly confuses me is the time period in which the story takes place. In the movie (c. 1945) everything coincided with the 1940’s style… but the mini-series presents styles even out dated for the film.  Websites are saying it’s taking place during the Great Depression, which makes sense when it comes to the garments Kate Winslet is wearing and the cars filling the streets on New York City. There seem to be quite a few different things about the mini-series than the movie staring film legend, Joan Crawford (for instance the setting, time period, and length of the film). I have a feeling this mini-series might touch upon the story of Mildred Pierce a little more accurately than the film, as films back in the 1940’s were so romantically driven.

Anyways, lovez it and can’t wait to see it when it’s released.

HBO’s Mildred Pierce

Finally! More information on HBO’s five hour mini-series Mildred Pierce! According to production will begin in April staring Kate Winslet who is replacing mah fav. classic Hollywood actress, Joan Crawford, which was Crawford’s most iconic role as a housewife that makes good. Co-staring with Crawford is Thirteen’s Evan Rachel Wood to play Veda Pierce (Winslet’s daughter) and Guy Pearce as Monty Beragon. So far, this movie sounds fantastic, I really think they’re selecting cast members that will do this class 1940’s film noir picture justice.

Crawford v. Winslet

In Celebrities, Film, Joan Crawford, Kate Winslet on 02/28/2010 at 5:41 am

So it seems HBO has grabbed Warner Bros. classic film Mildred Pierce starring one of my favorite actresses, Joan Crawford, to turn it into a miniseries and are replacing Crawford with Kate Winslet. This will probably be one of the few remakes that will ever occur that I will approve of. I’m really sick of cheap remakes that collect audiences based purely on seeing their beloved classic remastered and modernized. Winslet seems to be a woman of style and wouldn’t have taken a role if it wasn’t worth while as most of her films have been great successes in the past few years.

A film that is rumored to being remade soon is Gone with the Wind, which possibly will be starring Rachel McAdams and Hugh Jackman. I don’t know how the hell Hollywood is going to make Jackman and McAdams better than film legends Vivienne Leigh and Clark Gable…but it’s definitely a failure I would pay to see.
